"With Audi’s record in LMP racing, it seems incredible that they’re able to continue to out-do themselves, but the R15 TDI is a perfect example of just that. Replacing the dominant R10 TDI, with its V12 engine, the R15 TDI utilizes a V10 of the same displacement but of physically smaller dimensions to the older car. Thanks in part to the powerful and lightweight new engine, the car is more efficient (and incidentally, produces less pollutants), while a new engine management system improves throttle response. The bodywork is also much different, with the central protruding nose of a lower, wider shape. Flanking the nose are the first LED headlights found in a Le Mans prototype. While Audi failed to compete with the Peugeots at Le Mans, it is perhaps more to the credit of the stiff Peugeot competition than to the detriment of the R15, which is a highly competent and incredibly quick car. Nonetheless, the R15 would be updated in 2010 to attempt to take on the new threat from a resurgent Peugeot."
