Auto Union was founded on 29th June 1932 in Chemnitz, Geemany as a result of an amalgamation of four automotive manufacturers (Audi, Horch, DKW, Wanderer). Auto Union was also famous for their racing team (Auto Union Rennabteilung). The Silver Arrows (Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union) were famous for dominating GP racing from 1934 onwards. Auto Union was re-founded in 1949 in Ingolstadt, Bavaria which later evolved in Audi after being taken over by Volkswagen in 1969.
