"When confronted by the unrivaled engineering masterpiece that is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, you could consider its paradigm-shifting technical accomplishments such as the 8-liter 16-cylinder quad-turbocharged engine. Or the laundry list of records it shattered, being the fastest, quickest, and most powerful production car ever. Or you could mull over the fact that despite having more than 1,000 horsepower, twelve radiators, and a highly-advanced all-wheel drive system, the Veyron is as pleasing to the eye as it is painful to the wallet. That’s because it’s also one of the most expensive cars ever to be offered to the public, at more than a million dollars each, and Bugatti isn’t making a profit on any of them. You’ll need a seriously long straight to appreciate the Veyron’s unprecedented 253 mph top speed, making Forza 4’s meticulously rendered Nürburgring straight a perfect place to test your nerves as you peg the accelerator and crest 150 mph in less than 11 seconds. That being said, you won’t need anything special to appreciate how the Veyron reset the bar in hypercar performance, style, and sheer engineering prowess."

The 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a mid-engined hypercar that appears in Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4.

The Veyron 16.4 is named after the racing driver Pierre Veyron and has a top speed of 253 mph (407 km/h), making it the fastest production car between 2005 and 2007. Later and faster models of the Veyron include the Veyron Super Sport, Veyron Grand Sport, and Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. In 2016, the Veyron was succeeded by the Bugatti Chiron.

Synopsis[]

The Veyron 16.4 takes its name from the racing driver Pierre Veyron, with "16" referring to its W16 engine and "4" referring to its all-wheel drive drivetrain.

The Veyron carries an 8.0L (7,993 cc) quad-turbocharged W16 engine, with a total output of 987 hp (736 kW) and 922 ft·lb (1250 N·m). This engine configuration is similar to two VR8 engines bolted together. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch, direct-shift automatic transmission with magnesium paddles behind the steering wheel and a sub-150 millisecond shift time, as well as the Haldex Traction system.

The Veyron 16.4 hits 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 253 mph (407 km/h), reached during test sessions on Volkswagen Group's Ehra-Lessien test track on April 19, 2005. At top speed, the W16 consumes 45,000 L (9,900 imp gal) of air per minute.

Upon reaching 140 mph (225 km/h), hydraulics lower the Veyron 16.4 to a ground clearance of 3.5 in (9 cm), with the rear wing and spoiler deploying. In "handling mode", the wing produces 770 lb (349 kg) of downforce, holding the car to the road. "Top speed mode" must be entered while the car is not moving. Its driver must toggle a special top speed key to the left of their seat, which triggers a checklist to establish whether the car and its driver are ready to attempt to reach 253 mph (407 km/h). If so, the rear spoiler retracts, the front air diffusers close, and the normal 4.9 in (12.5 cm) ground clearance drops to 2.6 in (6.5 cm).

Performance[]

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4, with its very powerful engine and AWD drivetrain, launches off the line very quickly, with 0-100 mph (161 km/h) occurring in 5.5 seconds. The Veyron 16.4 is one of the fastest cars in the Forza series's Xbox 360 era, hitting a top speed of 253 mph (407 km/h). Conversely, due to its weight, the Veyron 16.4 has the problem of severe understeer around corners, as well as long braking distances that, if coupled with the car's severe understeer around corners, make the Veyron 16.4 more suitable for tracks that lack corners and instead have lots of long straights.
