The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport, also known as the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, is a sporty variant of the 6th-generation Chevrolet Camaro rear-wheel-drive muscle car.

The new-generation Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport features the 6.2 L (6,162 cc) naturally aspirated LT1 V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray, downtuned to produce 455 HP (461 PS) and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm) of torque. The car is built on the Cadillac ATS platform and chassis, modified to use magnetorheological adjustable dampers.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport is capable of doing 0-60 mph in four seconds and features a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport first appeared in the Hot Wheels Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6. Since Forza Horizon 3, it is playable by default.

Description Edit

One way to look at the 2016 Camaro in Super Sport dress is as a hybrid. No, we’re not talking about an electric powerplant; instead, we’re referring to its platform and chassis, which is shared with the Cadillac ATS as well as the Chevy Corvette powertrain that has been combined with its own suspension. That suspension utilizes the impossible to pronounce but easy to appreciate “magnetorheological adjustable dampers.” The package delivers a deep improvement over the already incredible ride that those who have driven a fifth-generation Camaro have come to expect. The retro-body style is now in its seventh year but a close look will reveal a few new creases to define the new model. Overall, the car is slightly smaller on the outside and 200 pounds lighter. Take this pony out for a run to discover what makes this the best Camaro yet.

Driving Characteristics Edit

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport performs well as a mid-level Camaro with a V8 engine. Its acceleration is reasonably fast and the car has a great top speed for its class. The car's braking, however, may require long distances before corners, especially at tracks like Hockenheimring. In terms of handling, though, the car is a great handler, better than the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.

Given its wide range of upgrades, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport can be turned into a low-mid-level R-Class/S2-Class car, capable of competing against NASCAR stock cars and high-end supercars/low-end hypercars like the Pagani Huayra.

Trivia Edit

  • The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport was given the Motor Trend Magazine 2016 Car of the Year award, winning against the 2015 Ford Mustang GT.[2]
  • The Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport strangely lacks the red "SS" badges on the front and rear. This has never been fixed.
