The 2015 Ferrari 488 GTB (Tipo F142M) is a mid-engined supercar produced from 2015 as the successor to the Ferrari 458 Italia. It appears in the Meguiar's Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 and has returned for all subsequent main titles.

The 488 GTB is named for its displacement of 488 cc per cylinder.

Description Edit

Ferrari’s 488 GTB is meant to replace the now-legendary 458, and it wears its predecessor’s unmistakable form like a badge of honor. This time around, however, the sleek body generates 50 percent more downforce and significantly reduces aerodynamic drag. The new front double-splitter directs air to the radiator and the scalloped side intakes, while paying homage to the 308 GTB, also move air to the turbos. Yes, this Ferrari has a pair of twin-scroll, ball-bearing turbos with twin-intercoolers. The 3.9L motor is a V8 displacing 488ccs per cylinder, hence the 488 moniker. It produces a different sound than you may be used to hearing from previous prancing horses, but it is nonetheless a wonderful and exorbitant noise that propels the 488 more efficiently than its predecessor. Borrowing technology put to use in LaFerrari, the carbon-fiber brakes stop the 488 nearly 10 percent faster than the 458 as well. Times may change, technology may progress, but one thing never changes – the feeling of driving a Ferrari. That is timeless.

Specifications Edit

The first mid-engined Ferrari with a forced-induction engine since the F40 back in 1987, the 488 GTB features a new, 3.9L (3,902 cc) twin-turbocharged V8 engine called the Ferrari F154 CB. The F154 engine was previously seen in the Ferrari California T. It produces 660 hp (492 kW) and 560 ft·lb (759 N·m) of torque. The twin-turbochargers are ball-bearing twin-scroll ones supplemented with two air-to-air intercoolers. The 488 also uses technologies from the Ferrari LaFerrari, using improved carbon ceramic brakes.

The 488 GTB uses a seven-speed dual-clutch F1 gearbox based on the one used in the 458 Italia.

Performance Edit

The Ferrari 488 GTB is equipped with a high-revving twin-turbocharged V8 engine, allowing it to stay in the powerband longer than most cars. The 488 GTB is considerably faster than the 458 Italia, with 0-60 mph (97 km/h) occurring in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 226 mph (364 km/h). The 488 GTB's improved tires and brakes allow it to corner and brake better than most cars in its class, building on and improving the 458 Italia's basic performance traits.
