"The 512 TR is an evolution of the Testarossa that graced thousands of car enthusiasts’ walls in poster form in the 1980s. The iconic shape, slightly refined during the transition to 512 TR form, maintains the famous side strakes and wide stance that made the original a universal icon of Italian power—a true Testarossa. As an update to the pioneering Berlinetta Boxers of the 1970s, it is powered by a modified version of the BB’s mid-mounted flat-12 engine, displacing 5 liters and pumped up to 421 horsepower. Interestingly, the engine is closely related to Ferrari’s Colombo-designed V12s, flattened for use in the mid-engine cars. Cooling for the big, high-strung engine necessitated large radiators flanking the engine in the rear, fed cool air by the huge side scoops. It seems strange, but the Testarossa and its related successors are some of the most-produced Ferraris ever, considering that the chassis served the company over the span of three decades. While the 512 TR has staggering street performance, it is one of few Ferraris for which the track is not the best place to enjoy its charms—the TR instead loves a windy stretch of road from which to explore the wide torque band and sonorous tones of its substantial engine."
—Official description[1]

The 1992 Ferrari 512 TR - abbreviated as "Ferrari 512TR"[2] - is a rear-wheel drive supercar by Ferrari.

It appears in every main series title except Forza Horizon 2, with its inclusion in Forza Horizon 5 as part of Series 7.

It was made available in Forza Horizon as part of the February Jalopnik Car Pack.

Synopsis[]

The 512 TR ("Testa Rossa") is a redesigned variant of the Testarossa with improved engine and platform specifications. The 512 TR saw the final application of Ferrari's 180° V12 engine, commonly referred to as flat-12 (F12) engine, which had been in production since 1973.[3]

It is powered by a 4.9 liter V12 engine, internally codenamed F113 D, that has two cylinder banks angled at 180° to each other, allowing the engine to have a shorter height than regular V12 engines. The result is an improved center of gravity, which was further achieved by lowering the engine and transmission assembly within the chassis by 1.18 in (30 mm).

Its engine has four valves per cylinder, dry sump lubrication, and Bosch Motronic fuel injection. It produces 421 hp (314 kW) and 360 ft·lb (488 N·m) of torque.

The 512 TR is based on the Testarossa's tubular steel chassis utilizing unequal-length double wishbone suspension at the front and rear, which was revised to fit larger diameter wheels and improve ride quality.[3] Weighing 3690 lb (1674 kg), it is heavier than most cars made in the 1990s such as the Lamborghini Diablo SV and most Ferraris in the Forza series.

The 512 TR and its subsequent F512 M redesign were replaced by the 550 Maranello in 1996,[4] the predecessor to the 575M Maranello.

Performance[]

The 512 TR has a five-speed manual transmission that directs power to the rear wheels, allowing performance such as 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in five seconds, 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 10.7 seconds, and top speeds exceeding 180 mph (290 km/h) in each Forza title.
