The 2015 Ferrari F12tdf is a high-performance grand tourer that appears in Forza Horizon 3 as VIP membership content and in Forza Motorsport 7.

The F12tdf is a limited-production exotic grand tourer and high performance variant of the Ferrari F12berlinetta, with only 799 units produced. Its name pays homage to the Tour de France automobile race held between 1899 and 1986 and which was regularly won by the Ferrari 250 between 1956 and 1964.[1]

Description

"No, it’s not Ferrari’s first diesel as the name might seem to imply, tdf stands for Tour De France. Not for the bicycle race that this front-engine V12 supercar has nothing to do with, but for the long ago motor race of the same name. More importantly, what the tdf means is more power and more sharp-edged performance than the standard F12, that and knowing you have those three letters on the end of the badge. You want some cool tech to help real in all that power? Well meet VSW or Virtual Short Wheelbase. That is a fancy way of saying rear-wheel steering. With a tail-happy tendency the VSW is there to help real it in a bit although not enough to ruin the fun of it. What is the true appeal of a front-engine V12 Ferrari? One single rev to the 8,900 rpm redline will answer that."

Characteristics

The F12tdf uses a variant of the F12berlinetta's 6.3 L (6,262 cc) V12 engine, with a new codename of F140 FG. Redlining at 8,900 rpm, the V12 produces 769 hp (573 kW) and 520 ft·lb (705 N·m) of torque. The F12tdf also weighs 242 lb (110 kg) less than the normal F12berlinetta, leaving the weight as 3351 lb (1520 kg), which then yields a power-to-weight ratio of 506 hp (377 kW) per tonne.

The F12tdf is Ferrari's first model with rear-wheel steering, which is actually absent in each Forza title due to technical limitations.

The F12tdf can do 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 0 - 100 mph (161 km/h) in 6 seconds, and a top speed still "in excess of" 211 mph (340 km/h), which is always exceeded in each of the F12tdf's Forza appearances, with 216 mph (348 km/h) in Forza Motorsport 7 and 239 mph (384 km/h) in Forza Horizon 3. Ferrari also claims that the Ferrari F12tdf has lapped the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 21 seconds; this makes the F12tdf the third fastest road-legal car on Ferrari's Fiorano test circuit, behind the LaFerrari and 488 Pista.

Performance

The Ferrari F12tdf is a faster F12berlinetta, with faster acceleration including 6 seconds to 100 mph (161 km/h) and wider gear ratios facilitating high speed runs, especially to a higher top speed of 239 mph (384 km/h), which can only be reached by the Forza Horizon 3 rendition of the car. The F12tdf's braking efficiency has also been increased over the F12berlinetta, and, coupled with the weight reduction measures used, the F12tdf passes through corners more efficiently than the F12berlinetta. It is the sharpest-steering road-legal Ferrari that is front-engined, capable of at least 1.2 Gs on the lateral skidpad at 120 mph (193 km/h).

Trivia

  • In Forzavista, the F12tdf's trunk stays permanently closed.
