The 2015 Lotus E23, also known as the Lotus E23 Hybrid, is a Formula One race car used by Lotus in the 2015 Formula One season, driven by Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonaldo. It is the successor to the failed Lotus E22.
The Lotus E23, being the only car by the Lotus racing team to use Mercedes-Benz-sourced engines after a 20-year partnership with Renault, uses a 1.6 liter Mercedes PU106B turbocharged hybrid V6 engine with the redline set to 15,000 rpm. The V6 is paired with a Mercedes PU106B Hybrid Motor Generator Unit, with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and a waste heat recovery unit (WHRU). The total power output of the car comes out as 932 hp (945 PS; 695 kW) and the torque as 508 ft·lb (689 Nm).
The E23 was considered an improvement compared to the failed E22, which was plagued with reliability issues and struggling for competitiveness due to its underpowered and unreliable Renault power unit and its flawed chassis.

As a Formula One race car, the Lotus E23 specializes in handling, capable of taking on corners at a maximum cornering force of 2.95 lateral Gs, all while being well balanced in other performance aspects. It also has better acceleration than almost every single car in the game, capable of doing 0-100 mph in 4 seconds, a milestone that not even the Koenigsegg One:1 can accomplish. With its amazing braking performance, the E23 takes just below 80 ft (24 m) to brake to a stop from 60 mph (97 km/h). In terms of top speed, though, the E23 can be described as above-average, with 217 mph (349 km/h).
