The 2015 McLaren 570S Coupé, also known as simply McLaren 570S, is a mid-engined supercar that appears in the Turn 10 Select Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 and appears in all subsequent titles. It is featured as a Specialty Dealer car in Forza Motorsport 7.

The 570S is the first of McLaren's new "Sports Series" models, a new range that is even more casual and less extreme than McLaren's "Super Series" range, alongside a less powerful model named the 540C, which is not sold in the US market. In 2016, a third Sports Series model, the 570GT, was introduced, and in 2017, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the McLaren 570S Spider, the open-top variant of the 570S, was unveiled as the fourth model of the Sports Series.[1]

Description

"It might be slotted below McLaren’s extravagant P1 and 650S, but there’s nothing entry-level about the 570S. This masterpiece of McLaren expertise instead targets a different segment of clientele and does so with astounding results. Taking cues from the P1’s front end, the 570S is smart not only in looks but also how the air passes over every bit of its flowing body curves. Behind the luxurious and functional cockpit is a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 that delivers an exhaust note that is almost as glorious as the feeling of the car’s ungodly acceleration. The 570S is a car whose beauty is only surpassed by its performance."

Specifications

The powerplant of the McLaren 570S is a variant of McLaren's M838T 3.8L (3,799 cc) twin-turbocharged V8 engine, with the codename M838TE. It produces 562 hp (419 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 443 ft·lb (600 N·m) of torque between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm.

The car also features McLaren's SSG seven-speed dual-clutch seamless shift automatic transmission with paddle shifters that the driver can use for manual gear selection. The car is built on McLaren's MonoCell II carbon monocoque chassis and comes with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, the front 225/35/R19 and the rear 285/35/R2, as well as carbon ceramic brakes. It has a weight of 3016 lb (1368 kg), giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 5.37 lb/2.43 kg per hp.

The McLaren 570S is capable of doing 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in an officially stated 3.1 seconds, 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 9.5 seconds, and a top speed of at least 204 mph (329 km/h), with AutoTopNL confirming a speed of 212 mph (342 km/h) on August 9, 2017.[3] The 570S also features brake steer, a Formula One technology that McLaren has used in its cars.

Performance

The McLaren 570S Coupé may be the lowest-ranked road-legal McLaren in the entire series, but being technologically advanced, its performance tells a different story. With the typical traits of a supercar, the 570S has astoundingly quick acceleration (0-60 mph (97 km/h) in as quick as 3.1 seconds, 0-120 mph (193 km/h) in 6.3 seconds), a high top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h) (which only matches McLaren's claim of the same top speed), responsive steering with a very subtle hint of understeer, and efficient braking thanks to being lightweight and using carbon ceramic brakes. Torque is progressively served over the 570S's highly broad powerband, encouraging drivers to make full use of the car up to 8,500 rpm.

Trivia

  • The McLaren 570S Coupé is the only McLaren in Forza Motorsport 6 that allows a 2.6L 4 Rotor engine swap from the Mazda 787B.
  • By default, the McLaren 570S Coupé's mirror casings and roof are painted the same as the body color instead of being carbon fiber. This is an option for some real-life models.[4]
