The 2015 McLaren 650S Coupé is a supercar that appears in Forza Horizon 2 and all newer titles of the Forza series. It also appears in various E3 2017 gameplay footages of Forza Motorsport 7.[1]
The 650S is the successor to McLaren's 12C supercar in their "Super Series" model range. In 2015, a track-focused evolution of the 650S, the 675LT, was released. In 2017, the successor to the 650S, the McLaren 720S, was released, with a new 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 named M840T.
Description
"Some might call the 650S a McLaren 12C with a facelift, but that would sell the performance of McLaren’s latest far too short. With the 650S, McLaren delivers a car that is even more refined than the 12C. The 650S is lighter, faster, and more nimble than the 12C and also draws cues from the now-legendary P1. In the supercar horsepower battle the 650S stands its ground with horsepower worthy of its namesake (641 to be exact). True to McLaren form, acceleration is at the forefront, with 60 mph achieved in less than three seconds and more than 120 mph in a little over eight seconds. With features like brake-steering, an F1-influenced drag reduction system, and a body that increases downforce by 40 percent at speeds of 150 mph and above, the 650S is at the top of its game."—Forzamotorsport.net[2]
Specifications
The McLaren 650S features a tuned variant of the McLaren 12C's 3.8L (3,799 cc) twin-turbocharged V8 engine (codenamed M838T), with the new power output rated at 641 hp (478 kW) and torque output rated at 500 ft·lb (678 N·m). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed near instantaneous shift dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Based on the 12C with 25% new parts and the same carbon fiber reinforced polymer chassis, the McLaren 650S sports visual cues from the McLaren P1 hypercar and the McLaren 12C GT3 race car. On the front is a 12C-esque front end with the P1's headlights, while the rest of the car is based on the 12C with the rear end being influenced partially by the 12C GT3. The McLaren 650S also follows McLaren's new naming nomenclature of the car's name consisting of its power output (in metric horsepower/PS) followed by a capital letter or two (in this case, "S" stands for "Sport").
The McLaren 650S is capable of doing 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 0-100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.8 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h).

Performance
The McLaren 650S's performance has been improved over the 12C, with 0-60 mph (97 km/h) sprints being done in less than 3.3 seconds and the handling having been improved as well. The top speed of the 650S is 210 mph (338 km/h), well above its officially claimed top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h). Just like with the 12C, the 650S's rear wing folds up under heavy braking to redirect air resistance upwards, shortening braking distances.
The 650S is comparable to the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4, Ferrari 458 Italia, and Audi R8 V10 plus.
Trivia
- The Forza renditions of the 650S depict the car with the side mirrors and the rear wing painted the body color of the car; this is a color option for a real life 650S.[3]
- The 650S used in the games is the North American version, evidenced by orange turn signal housings.
