The 1973 Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-R - abbreviated as Nissan GT-R '73 - is a FR sports car by Nissan that debuted in Forza Horizon 3 as the 16th Barn Find with the November 2016 update and is featured as standard in all subsequent titles.
Synopsis
The 1973 2000GT-R, codenamed as KPGC110, is the second generation model of the Nissan Skyline GT-R series. Similar to its predecessor, it was exclusive to the Japanese domestic market but only saw a production run of four months due to the introduction of strict emission regulations in 1973.[1]
The two litre inline-six engine from the 1973 2000GT-R is a carryover from the 1971 model but achieves slower acceleration times on this model due to the car having larger dimensions and being 100 lb (45 kg) heavier than its predecessor.
A key focus in development was put into handling as the 1973 2000GT-R features enlarged fenders on all wheel arches to allow the fitment of wider tires. It also has a ducktail rear spoiler to increase downforce for better cornering and four-wheel disc brakes, a rare feature of 1970s automobiles.
A successor to the GT-R trim was introduced 16 years, and three model generations, later with the 1989 R32 Skyline GT-R.
Performance
The 1973 2000GT-R has decent overall performance, particularly in terms of braking, but tends to understeer in corners due to a sluggish steering.
In comparison with its predecessor, the 1971 2000GT-R, the 1973 model goes from 0 to 60 mph in nine seconds, making it two seconds slower than the 1971 model and thus less capable in the field of acceleration with the stock engine. It is also slightly disadvantaged in low-speed corners due to being prone to understeer although it fares better in high-speed corners than the 1971 model.
