The 2009 Peugeot #9 Peugeot Sport Total 908, correctly called the 2009 Peugeot #9 Peugeot Sport Total 908 HDi FAP, is a Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) sports race car built by Peugeot to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, eventually achieving a victory in 2009.

The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP's name is shared with a Peugeot concept saloon/sedan named the 908 RC, which shares its V12 diesel engine with the 908 HDi FAP.

Description Edit

Following the new ACO rules encouraging closed-cockpit prototypes, Peugeot unveiled the 908 at the Paris Auto Show in 2006. Running from 2007-2010, the 908 would win 19 of the 28 races it ran in. The #9 was the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans winner. It was followed by the #8 908 in second and in sixth place the #7 908 was not far behind. Battling the Audi R15s the 908s would finish 22 seconds behind the Audis at Sebring and would win a rain-soaked Petit Le Mans later in 2009. The full carbon fiber monocoque is powered by a 5.5-liter V12 diesel that delivers incredible torque.
