The 2017 Renault R.S.17 is a Formula One race car by Renault featured in Forza Motorsport 7.

Synopsis

The R.S.17 was designed and constructed by the Renault Sport Formula One Team to compete in the 2017 Formula One season. The model used in Forza Motorsport 7 was driven by Nico Hülkenberg in the 2017 Formula One season.

Specifications

The Renault R.S.17 is powered by a 1.6 L Renault R.E.17 turbocharged V6 engine limited to 15,000 rpm and placed in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive layout. To complement the V6 engine, two Motor Generator Units are added, with one being a KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) and the other being a WHRU (waste heat recovery unit). The total power output comes out as 1110 hp (828 kW) and 606 ft·lb (822 N·m), increased from the 901 hp (672 kW) in the real life car.

The R.S.17 uses an eight-speed semi-automatic sequential transmission delivering power to the rear wheels. The car weighs 1605 lb (728 kg) with the driver included. This subsequently results in a massive power-to-weight ratio of 1525 hp (1137 kW) per tonne.

The R.S.17 uses Castrol Edge as a lubricant and is equipped with brakes that use Brembo carbon brake discs, pads, and calipers, as well as AP Master cylinders. Tires used are Pirelli P Zero tires, in both dry and slick variants, or Pirelli Cinturato, in both wet and treaded variants; both tire choices house 13-inch OZ Racing wheels.

Performance

The R.S. 17 is capable of 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.4 seconds, 0 to 100 mph (161 km/h) in 3.7 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating RWD car in the series. Due to its extreme amount of downforce generated, it tops out at 218 mph (351 km/h).

With a power-to-weight ratio as large as 1525 hp (1137 kW) per tonne, the Renault R.S.17 is among one of the fastest cars in the Forza series as it has extremely fast acceleration, capable of reaching 100 mph (161 km/h) in less than 4 seconds and 200 mph (322 km/h) faster than most cars, and, most importantly, specializes in having the most grip around corners.

It is noticeably faster than its Forza Motorsport 6 counterpart, the Lotus E23, with improvements to its extremely responsive braking, sharp steering, and overall stability. Despite its limited top speed of 218 mph (351 km/h), the R.S.17 is still the fastest car on any track and is surprisingly the fastest stock car in a drag race lasting up to one mile, even a few milliseconds faster than the Koenigsegg One:1, despite the latter having a much higher trap speed at 242 mph (390 km/h).
