"Saab has always done things a bit differently, and although the 9-3 Aero is much more conventional than its truly bizarre ancestors that sported smoky two-stroke motors or V4s, its still one of the more unique cars on the road today. It has many details that are uniquely Saab, like the centrally-positioned ignition switch. But more importantly, there’s the powertrain. Saab has stayed loyal to the turbocharger since becoming one of the modern pioneers of the technology back in the 1970s, and the Aero utilizes one to great advantage, mustering a full 205 horsepower from two liters of displacement. The turbo’s low-inertia design means that turbo lag—a problem with early Saab turbos—has been virtually eliminated, providing the driver with a smooth and linear throttle response. Then there’s the profile—unmistakably a Saab from any angle. The Aero is spiced up with a fixed rear spoiler, stylish 6-spoke alloy wheels, and a wide oval exhaust tip."
—Official description[1]

The 2002 Saab 9-3 Aero is a sport compact by Saab that is featured in all Xbox 360 Motorsport titles. It replaces the Saab 9-3 Viggen from Forza Motorsport (2005).

Synopsis[]

The 9-3 Aero is the successor to the 900 Aero, the replacing model of the 99 Turbo.

Powered by a two liter turbocharged engine, it was available as the performance model of the first generation Saab 9-3, which was also available as the more powerful Viggen with a 2.3 liter engine.

It was discontinued in 2002 and replaced by the second generation 9-3 in 2003.
