A Speed Zone is a specific area of a road with two ends that are marked by pairs of speed cameras mounted on top of inverted L-shaped posts that, when triggered, will start the Speed Zone. The player must drive through the Speed Zone as quickly as possible, as their average speed is recorded throughout the entire duration of the Speed Zone. Successfully making it from one end to the other completes the Speed Zone. Speed Zones almost always involve curves.

In Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2, players could only set records on Speed Zones and compare theirs to other players. In Forza Horizon 3, Speed Zones now have three target speeds that must be cleared in order to get all three stars (★★★) and the most fans possible.

Tips / Warnings

  • Use a very fast car with excellent all-round stats (e.g. Koenigsegg One:1). Some speed zones are off the road, and as such, a car like the Local Motors Rally Fighter or Lamborghini Urus may be required in some cases.
  • Some parts of Speed Zones can be shortcutted without failure.
  • Avoid traffic and other vehicles as much as possible.
    • Sometimes, there will be a lot of traffic (including Drivatars) in a Speed Zone, so it is always possible to try it again later when the traffic has died down.
  • Going out of the Speed Zone (e.g. off the road) will fail it. The same occurs if the player goes in the wrong direction after starting the Speed Zone and if the average speed reaches zero.
  • Hitting walls, scenery objects, and other vehicles results in a loss of speed, so be careful.
  • Don't enter the Speed Zone too fast, or else, you may not be able to brake before the first curve of the speed zone.
