"Toyota produced 5,000 GT-Four RC ST185’s to meet homologation requirements for Group A Rally competition. The 1992 racing version was named the “Carlos Sainz Edition” in honor of the Spanish drivers racing achievements including becoming Toyota’s first world rally champion in 1990. While this is not the racing version, it does deliver 10 more turbo-charged horsepower than the normal GT-Four for a total of 232 horsepower, and with its distinctive hood and front bumper the GT-Four RC is a much sought after model. The ST185 was the most successful rally car Toyota built, winning the driver’s championship in 1992-1994 and earning the manufacturer’s championship in 1993 and 1994. The WRC was previously dominated by European car makers and Toyota’s success precedes the later winning WRC histories of Subaru and Mitsubishi."
—Description[1]

The 1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185 - abbreviated as "Toyota Celica '92" - is an all-wheel drive rally car by Toyota.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the June Meguiar's Car Pack and in Forza Horizon as part of the Rally Expansion Pack.

It returns in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of The Smoking Tire Car Pack, and as standard in all subsequent Forza main series titles except Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 7.

It appears in Forza Horizon 4 as a seasonal reward car since Series 22.

Synopsis[]

The Celica GT-Four is an all-wheel drive turbocharged variant of the Toyota Celica, which was also used by Toyota in the World Rally Championship (WRC).

The ST185 was the second generation of the GT-Four that debuted for model year 1990. In order to homologate the ST185 for the Group A racing class, it became available as the limited-production GT-Four RC in September 1991 in Japan. It was also sold under different names in Europe and Australia.

Compared to the standard ST185, the RC was redesigned with a series of changes for competitional use that include a water-to-air intercooler for easier engine tune-ups, a reshaped hood for improved heat dissipation and a lighter front bumper with better aerodynamics.[2]

The ST185 proved to be highly successful in the WRC, as it allowed Carlos Sainz to claim his second drivers' world championship in 1992 and helped Toyota claim the manufacturer's title in the 1993 and 1994 seasons.[3]

The ST185 was replaced by the ST205 in 1994 with the transition to the sixth generation Celica.
